Headaches are a common of life: you can get them if you do not drink enough water or if you are stressed out. However, what many people do not know is that foods can cause morning headaches and daily headaches. This is why it is important to consider when you get headaches and whether or not it is right after a meal. If you know the foods that cause headaches, then you can then try your best to stay away from them so that you can prevent triggering a headache. The following are some of the most common foods that cause headaches.

Aged Cheeses and Fruits Are Foods that Cause Headaches

Some of the most common foods that cause headaches are aged cheeses like blue cheese and cheddar and aged or dried fruits. These items contain an item called tyramine. Tyramine increases blood flow to a person’s brain and can result in contraction of one’s muscles and blood vessels, two things that cause headaches. If you want to have cheese, go with non-aged varieties and with fresh fruits. Some common fruits or foods that cause headaches include eggplant, raisins, and avocados. Be aware of these things when you go out to eat in restaurants: you never know what will pop up in a salad.

Beer and Wine: Foods that Cause Headaches

Additionally, when it comes to foods that cause headaches, you need to stay away from beer and red wines. These items are aged, and thus, they often have high concentrations of tyramine and can definitely bring on an intense headache. If you know that you are prone to headaches, then it definitely pays to stay away from these items.

Meats Is Also A Food that Causes Headache

Often, the treatments for meats like canned soups and meat can trigger a headache. Thus, one of the most common foods that cause headaches are aged meats. This is why it is best to go with fresh meats rather than aged or canned varieties, especially if you know that you have frequent and often painful headaches.

Additives Can Cause Headache

Lastly, when it comes to foods that cause headaches, you should try to be really conscious of foods that contain nitrite. This is something that is around a lot during the holidays and can really bring on some serious headaches. Ham and bacon are some high-in-nitrite foods that you should try to limit. If you look for all natural types of bacon and ham, you can then be that much more certain to avoid a killer headache.

Nearly everyone will experience a headache at least once in their lifetime, if not many headaches. There are many different causes of headaches. If you can learn what some of the common causes of headaches are, you can then protect yourself and prevent them from happening. These headaches often happen because of muscle contraction or because of blood vessel swelling. Certain actions, environmental factors, and behaviors can definitely trigger or aggravate a headache. The following are just some of the many common causes of headaches.

Foods: Common Cause of Headaches

There are many foods that cause headaches. If you know that you are prone to getting headaches, you should really consider the foods that you are putting into your body. This way, you an prevent this condition from happening. Some of the most common food triggers include aged cheeses and fruits. These items contain tyramine, which can halt or alter the blood flow in a person’s body. This in turn sparks blood vessel swelling and can also bring on muscle contraction. Thus, the foods you consume can often become some of the most common causes of headaches, and this is why it is important to monitor when you get headaches and if it is linked to certain foods.

Dehydration: Common Cause of Headaches

Dehydration is a common cause of headaches. You may not be drinking enough water during the day, and this can lead to muscle contraction. Additionally, some actions can result in dehydration. For example, if you work out a lot and do not increase the amount of water you consume, then you could end up with a severe headache. Similarly, a lot of caffeine or beer consumption can also dehydrate the body which can then cause a headache. Thus, if one wants to curb the occurrence of headache, it pays to monitor how much water one is consuming.

Stress and Depression: A Common Cause of Headache

Lastly, stress and depression are common causes of headaches. Often, if someone is depressed or stressed, their whole body will feel tense: everywhere from their neck to their jaw. This tension can then result in some serious contraction which then results in a headache. This is why it is so important to try and limit the amount of stress in one’s life and to cope with any physical effects of stress head on by doing things like taking a break from work or going out for a run or for a massage. These things can save you a lot of grief and can prevent headaches.

The cause of a stress headache, or tension headache, would seem fairly obvious. A stress headache comes from stress. While it is true that some people who are under a lot of pressure will be able to point at their emotional distress as the stress headache cause not everyone can say the same.

Pinpointing the stress headache cause is important so that you can effectively treat the headache. Many people suffer unnecessarily from stress headaches. It can also be very frustrating to have this kind of headache without any effective relief.

Identifying The Stress Headache Cause Symptoms

A tension or stress headache will usually get worse as the day progresses. For some people stress headaches occur on a daily basis or for more than 15 days in a month. This type of stress headache is considered chronic. Headaches that occur less than 15 days in a month are considered to be episodic.

Unlike migraines a stress headache causes mild to medium pain. The pain also occurs on both sides of the head and is described as a tight band around the back or base of the skull. The muscles around the neck area may also feel very tight.

Stress Headache Causes

With a little thought as to what is going on around you and in your life you should be able to find the stress headache cause. Some of the common causes of headache related to muscle contraction include sleep deprivation, hunger, and anxiety.

If you think about the possible causes and what you were doing prior to experiencing the headache you should be able to determine the stress headache cause. Emotional stress headache causes include problems with family, work related anxiety, feeling isolated, facing a new challenge or test, a perfectionist nature, and facing a new social situation.

Treatment Of Stress Headache

If you believe the type of pain you are experiencing matches the description of a stress headache then you can use over the counter medication to relieve the pain. It is best to take medication when the pain is still mild rather than when the headache has progressed to an unbearable level.

If there is an emotional stress headache cause then it may be best to try and deal with your emotions than to take medication. Taking medication continuously is not recommended as you feel less relief from the medication as time goes on. You may need a prescription strength drug if over the counter painkillers are ineffective. If you would like to avoid stronger medication then it is best to find the stress headache cause.

Are you one of those people who often suffer from mild to severe headaches? If you are suffering from severe headaches, you should seek headache pain relief as soon as possible. Ignoring your headache will not make it go away. In fact, if you do not try to find headache pain relief at the onset of the headache, the pain could worsen. The pain could go from mild to really bad and when this happens, common home headache pain relief will no longer work for you and you will be forced to use pain relievers to address the problem. To avoid suffering from severe headaches, do not ignore your headaches.

Understanding The Source Of Your Pain For Headache Pain Relief

Understanding your pain is very important. It will be easier for you to deal with your pain if you know its source. Studies show that most types of headaches are just symptoms of some underlying medical conditions. For instance, a severe headache that usually starts at the upper or lower portion of your eyes could be an indication that you have inflamed sinusitis. Headache caused by inflamed sinusitis can range from mild to severe. In fact, some people may be so affected by this type of headache that they often miss work. If you have a family history of sinusitis and you suspect that your headache may be cause by inflammation in your sinuses, you should seek proper headache pain relief as soon as possible.

On the other hand, a dull persistent pain that you feel on both sides of your head can be attributed to tension headache. Tension headaches can happen anytime and if you do not seek proper headache pain relief, things can go from bad to worst. According to experts, untreated tension headaches cast last as long as a week and the pain can get progressively worse. If you do not want to deal with that kind of discomfort, you should seek proper headache pain relief right away. Getting the right kind of headache pain relief can save your life.

Is It Necessary To Take Medicines To Relieve Headaches?

You do not need medications each time you have a headache. According to experts, some types of headaches can easily be treated without the use of drugs. In fact, simply headaches may go away after a nap, a cold compress or a massage. On the other hand, headaches that are caused by some underlying medical conditions may not be as easy to deal with. To know if you need drugs for your headaches, consult your doctor.

Although headaches can be quite irritating, most types of headaches are not really serious. In fact, some types of headaches can be safety treated at home. If you are one of those people who tend to suffer from mild to moderate headaches every now and then, you should explore the possibilities of using simple home headache relief to deal with your pain. Simple home headache relief is a lot better than popping a pill into your mouth.

Yes, drugs may bring about instant headache pain relief but the sad truth about drugs is that they always have long term side effects on the body and if you use them constantly, your body become immune to them. On the other hand, natural home headache relief does not have side effects and our body always responds well to this treatment. In other words, home headache relief can relieve you of your pain and discomforts without doing harm to your body.

Common Home Headache Relief

Rest is the most common home headache relief. If you are suffering from tension headache after a long day at work, the best thing for you to do is to take a break and rest for a while. Lie down and rest your head comfortable on a soft pillow. Close your eyes and take a nap. Taking a nap will restore your energy and will make you feel better. If it is not possible for you to lie down and take a nap, just simply sit quietly on a chair and release the tension of the muscles around your neck and shoulders. Take deep breathes and fill your lungs with fresh air. You may also massage your head, your nape and your back to help release the tension on your muscles. Do this for a few minutes or until you feel your muscles loosen up. Once your muscles are relaxed, your tension headache will begin to subside.

Another popular home headache relief is the ice pack. Yes, cold compress work well even when you have a throbbing headache. Just put some ice into a bag or wrap it is a towel and them press the bag or towel on your head. Press the ice pack on your forehead, at your temples and at the back of your neck. On the other hand, if you feel that your whole body is so tense, you might as well have a warm relaxing bath. A lavender scented bath usually helps relieve muscle tensions and headaches.

Headaches are some of the most common health problems that we face today. At some point, we all suffer from headaches. Others only have mild aches and pains while others have it so bad that they often could not get out of bed for hours. More often than not, we use over the counter pain relievers to get rid of our headaches. Unfortunately, constant use of over the counter pain relievers can have some negative effects on our health in the long run. If you have chronic headaches, it best to forgo the use of drugs and instead go for herbal headache relief.

Yes, herbal headache relief may not take away all your pain almost instantly but they do not usually have any side effects and they do not cost as much as those over the counter pain relievers or those prescription drugs. However, if you are suffering from chronic headaches and you are taking other forms of medications, you should talk to your physician first before you take any herbal medicines.

Choosing The Right Herbal Headache Relief

Although herbal headache relief is considered as safe for most types of people, that does not mean that you can use just about any kind of herbs to get rid of your pains and aches. Remember that different types of herbs may have different effects on people so you need to make sure that you use the right kinds of herbs. Before you go for herbal headache relief and other forms of home headache relief, you should take the time to study your options well. First, you need to educate yourself about the various types of herbs that are used to relieve pains. Find a good book about herbal headache relief in your local library. Reading books about different types of herbs and herbal headache relief will help you make informed decisions.

Is it Safe To Buy Those Herbal Headache Relief Sold Online?

Safe is a relative thing especially when it comes to products sold online. Most herbal headache relief products sold by reputable online merchants are safe and if you use them properly, you need not worry about poisoning yourself or something like that. On the other hand, some products sold by unknown online merchants may be counterfeits and may not be as safe as their manufacturer said they are. To be safe, check out the reputation of the online merchant first before you but herbs from him or her.

So you’ve got a headache. It’s a whopper – and your best guess is that it’s caused by the tremendous amount of stress you’ve been under lately. Who can handle all that stuff? No mere mortal. There’s gotta be a better way.

Stress Headache Relief

How can you get relief from the stress headache once it takes hold? The first step is to not let it get any worse. Once you realize you’re getting a headache, do some things to make it better – right away. You can try an herbal headache relief measure, but until you can get to the store, you can try one of these:

Drink some water. Researchers have discovered that not having enough water causes dehydration – we knew that – but dehydration causes headaches. And it doesn’t have to be the major into-the-hospital-for-vital-fluids dehydration, even just a little dehydration can lead to a major stress headache, needing relief.

Lie down and relax. Let your body sink down into the floor or mattress, and consciously relax the muscles of the body. Feel like you weigh a million pounds and just have to let it all go. Purposefully unclench your hands – open then and let go of tension. Let your jaw go slack (a lot of tension is held in the jaw).

The stress causing a headache is often caused by very tight muscles in the neck, shoulders and back. Try massage for great stress headache relief. The neck, shoulders, and various places on the scalp are the places best suited for this. Also, it’s much better to have a friend give the massage than to try to massage it yourself – self-massage is almost useless in comparison to a good massage from someone else!

Extremes of temperature can also help with getting rid of a nasty headache. Moist heat (think hot compress) can help if applied to the neck, forehead, or shoulders. Take a washcloth or towel, soak it in hot water, wring it out, and apply on the stressed spots. Alternately, soak it in ice water and do the same, or put some ice into a bag, wrap the bag in a washcloth, and apply to the body. Either of these can relieve a stressful headache.

If you’re still struggling with a stress headache, relief also comes in a bottle. There are several forms of medicine available, both over-the-counter and prescription – for those really bad headaches that require medical attention.

Take Some Off Your Plate – Aka Preventative Action

As for the future – do things to avoid having stress headaches needing relief in the first place. Take better care of yourself, rest, relax, and do things for yourself instead of constantly being on the go. Learn to say “no” to new opportunities or obligations. You can do it!

Tension headaches affect most people at some time in their lives. They are recognized by the constant pressure on the temples, neck or back pain, dizziness, and nausea. They can be brought on by stress or bad posture and last anywhere from thirty minutes to several days. While the intensity of the other symptoms are related to the headache, many factors can contribute to tension headache nausea that result in it being worse than it has to be. Nevertheless, repeat sufferers can take precautions against this troublesome symptom by following a few common sense suggestions.

Avoid Making Tension Headaches Nausea Worse

People who have conditions requiring medication are the most likely to have exacerbated tension headache nausea. Unfortunately, these conditions often contribute to the stress that gives rise to the tension headaches in the first place. Those who use over-the-counter medicine such as ibuprofen or naproxen to manage pain regularly shouldn’t take those medicines for their tension headaches. Not only do they cause stomach problems, they are less effective the more they are taken. Due to their tendency to upset the stomach, they will make the tension headache nausea much worse. If possible, these people should try and find another path to headache relief. People who have frequent indigestion will also have unusually severe nausea with their tension headaches. It is important to avoid spicy or acidic foods between episodes. However, the medicine that is used for heart burn will help with the nausea from a tension headache. Those who get tension headaches and are dealing with a major life problem, such as job loss or family death, should avoid possible stomach aggravations.

Talk To a Doctor When Suffering From Tension Headaches and Nausea

Constant nausea is disruptive to the body’s natural rhythm because it alters the schedule of hunger that the stomach expresses. This can lead to skipped meals and weight loss. Weight loss is a problem for people with chronic illnesses more so than others. If severe tension headache nausea persists, than a serious condition, such as a peptic ulcer, could be the problem. Peptic ulcers frequently form under conditions of constant stress, though the exact causes are still debated. When the tension headaches are most likely caused by stress and accompanied by very bad nausea that can’t be controlled, an appointment with a doctor should be scheduled. The doctor can determine if an ulcer or other problem is contributing to the tension headache nausea, and may be able to prescribe something to reduce the frequency of the tension headaches. Ultimately, medication is only a short term answer, and the cause of the tension headaches must be addressed.

Tension headaches are the most common type of headaches among adults, and chronic sufferers can have them up to fifteen days out of the month. These headaches can last through the night or even through the whole week. If the cause isn’t identified, they may persist over a person’s lifetime, becoming an endless trial of endurance. Unresolved stress and muscle tension are the two leading suspects for this condition. Well known symptoms are a constant pressure from both sides of the head concentrating on the temples, nausea or abdominal pain, and dizziness. While the pressure is something most of us have dealt without much bother, tension headache dizziness can be risky, even to the experienced headache sufferer.

The Dangers of Tension Headache Dizziness

People with tension headaches do their best to cope, and these types of headaches usually don’t keep them from their daily activities. They begin to take the symptoms for granted as they tough it out. Tension headache dizziness doesn’t seem like much of an issue, but it can come at anytime during the headache. This is what makes it dangerous. Tension headache dizziness strikes most often at the beginning of the headache and then subsides into the familiar bilateral pressure. However, it can come back and be a real hazard. If dizziness occurs while driving, wrecks and fender benders will result. If it occurs in the shower, one can slip and break a bone. If it occurs when caring for children or elders, even a trained focus will lapse, leaving others in peril. This is why it is so important to pay attention to your symptoms during a tension headache.

How to Handle Tension Headache Dizziness

By paying heed to the headaches as they come on, it is possible to learn to identify the symptoms that occur before the onset of dizziness. Examples of sensations that signal impending dizziness during a tension headache are fuzzy vision, weak knees, or butterflies in the stomach. Using a headache journal will help spot patterns and capture details before they fade from memory. It may be difficult to turn attention to what is instinctive to try and ignore, especially if the symptoms include tension headache nausea, thus perseverance is necessary. As a result of keeping track of tension headache dizziness, the sensations that are discernable before the dizziness encroaches can be noted. This is the best way to avoid the kinds of accidents that might occur with tension headache dizziness. When the dizziness is recognized beforehand, it is possible to pull off the road, get out of the bathroom, or phone a neighbor for help with care giving.
